Kaitlyn Welzen is the Sustainability Manager for Duke University Dining. Identifying herself as a sustainability moderate, Kaitlyn champions an approachable vision of sustainability that everyone can contribute to. She has a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Ripon College and a Master’s in Sustainable Management from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.

 During college, Kaitlyn became a prep cook for her college food service, a role that later earned her a dining sustainability internship. After graduating, she joined Sodexo Food Service as the regional sustainability manager at higher education accounts in Wisconsin. Kaitlyn found her next role managing waste reduction and disposal as the Recycling and Compost Coordinator at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, WA. Kaitlyn was then promoted to Sustainability and Purchasing Manager, where she oversaw sustainability initiatives and managed food procurement for the animals. Next, Kaitlyn moved to Durham, NC. where Duke Dining proved to be the perfect fit for her. Kaitlyn is a member of the Sustainability Leadership team.
